What is the Princeton WordNet?

The Princeton WordNet (PWN) is the English lexical database developed by the Cognitive Science Laboratory at Princeton University under the direction of Professor George A. Miller. The database is divided by part of speech into noun, verb, adjective and adverb, organized in sets of synonyms, called synset, each of which represents "meaning" of the word entry.

WordNet is a great inspiration in the extensive development of this kind of lexical database in other languages. It is not important resource in implementing NLP applications in each language, but also inter-linking WordNets of different languages to develop multilingual applications.

Thai WordNet

Thai WordNet was established in October, 2007. WNMS tools in the AsianWordNet Project (AWN) have been used in the construction. AWN is the project that provides a communication platform to realize the cross language manipulating between the WordNets of the Asian languages. Thai WordNet is built based on the Princeton WordNet version 3.0.
